BEHIND THE BRAND

How It All Started
I was born in the South American mountains, and it was just beautiful there, the air was fresh, and nature was all around. From a young age, I was really drawn to nature and anything handmade. I was also super curious about different cultures, history, and just seeing the world. That's why I ended up studying International Relations, wanting to figure out how everything connects.
This brought me into the world of corporate retail, where I gained invaluable experience navigating the complexities of global commerce, and my continued growth within the retail sector eventually provided the opportunity for me to move to the sunny shores of another country.
Living by the sea taught me to appreciate the present moment, to flow with ease, and to cherish the newfound freedom of navigating a different culture.

A Trip That Changed Everything
Then in 2023, a trip to India that felt less like a vacation and more like a homecoming. The sensory explosion of India , the kaleidoscope of colors that painted every street, the ancient temples whispering stories of centuries past, the gentle presence of animals woven into the fabric of daily life , it was a profound awakening.
It stirred something deep within me, a recognition of a vibrancy and a connection to the handmade that resonated with my soul's earliest inclinations. The art and culture there just hit me in a way I hadn't expected. It felt like something clicked, and I started thinking about how to help keep these beautiful, handmade things alive. That was the beginning of the idea for Praiatea.

Finding Inspiration
When I got back home, things just felt different. That trip had opened my eyes, and I really wanted to find a way to connect with and support the people who make these incredible things by hand.
In 2024, that inner stirring became a decisive call. I left the structured world of corporate retail, driven by a desire to explore this newfound passion, to connect with the source of this vibrant beauty.
I returned to India, and also ventured into the captivating landscapes and traditions of Central Asia. It was in the workshops, witnessing the meticulous artistry of block printing, the patient dedication of weavers, the set of skills passed down through generations, that I found my passion.
I really wanted to understand how everything was made, so I started learning to sew. Every stitch I learned just made me appreciate the skill and heart that goes into creating things by hand.

A New Chapter in US
Life then offered an unexpected opportunity, leading me to a new chapter in the United States. This provided the space and support for the vision of Praiatea to fully take flight.
