The Inspiration

Rooted in the beauty of the Ravenala madagascariensis, also known as the Traveler’s Palm, the print celebrates the connection between movement and stillness.

Its wide, open leaves stretch toward the light, just like we do when we chase new horizons.

This design was created to remind us that exploration isn’t only about distance, but about curiosity and growth

The Design

Framed like the border of a vintage postcard, this pattern feels like a small piece of a journey, a gentle reminder of places that invite calm and lightness. The design captures the joy of nature and that uplifting feeling that comes with greenery, the kind of atmosphere that lets you breathe a little deeper and slow down. Every part of the pattern was hand block printed on soft natural cotton, bringing the care and rhythm of an artisanal process into a design that feels warm, relaxed and full of life.

The Process

Carving the Block

Each design begins as a solid piece of wood, carefully selected for its grain and durability. The pattern is meticulously carved by hand, a process that requires patience, precision, and a deep understanding of the design. Every groove, curve, and detail is shaped to ensure that the final print will capture the movement and rhythm of nature. This traditional technique connects generations of artisans with a craft that has been refined over centuries

The process

Stamping the Fabric

Each block represents a single color in the design, so for a multi-colored pattern, artisans use a separate block for every color, layering them one by one. The blocks are carefully dipped in dye and pressed onto the fabric with attention and rhythm, building the design gradually. Each impression is slightly different, giving the fabric a unique character.

The palette

Three shades of green come together with a warm earthy brown to bring the design to life. The greens reflect the vibrant energy and lushness of tropical foliage, evoking a sense of growth, relaxation, and natural joy. The brown adds depth and balance, grounding the pattern and highlighting the intricate details of the hand-stamped palm leaves.
